The 3-engined Ju 52/3 was developed from the single-engine Ju 52 of 1930. This type was employed by the German Lufthansa over a long period before it was put into service with the German Luftwaffe as a bomber version in 1934. From then it was mainly used as a transport and troop-carrying aircraft.
