Hi there ,

Just joined the forum, after being on the Relish mailing list for a while , as with most people here I guess , I member of a fair number of other forums, I'm knows as Scotsman over on Large Scale Planes, and my own name on Britmodeller , and again Scotsman on ARC

I've been modeling for so long , I really should be better at it , (53 years ond, and been modelling since I was 6-7?, the first kit I recall with real clarity is , of course, the Airfix spit 9, JE-J - I know very predictable!)

These days its 1/32 almost exclusively , usually US/RAF WWII and on , I usually leave German WWII to those who really know the subject!, of course 32nd means expensive by and large , so my build rate isn't a high as I'd like ,

A small taster of the things I get up to - a hunter F6 built a few years ago for an LSP Group build

Welcome to the fold Colin. Hmmm !! 'sunny' Scotland now that is an oxymoron, a bit like 'interlectual' Essex where I hail from. I see that you build 'real' aeroplanes and with a very nice finish so please show us some more of your work. Derek from 'darn sarf'

Thanks Derek

Its a bright , and sunny day , one of many we've had recently , Just for once its been an ok sunmmer up here in the Far NE, (aberdeen or be exact)

More of the same , Hmm , lets see .. well on the bench at the moment we have a Revell 32nd Eurofighter , 11SQ, tooled up for libyan ops , and next to it is a 32nd Tornado F3.. no not a mistype , its been on going now for 2 years plus, hacked from Revell GR1, with lots of swearing filling , grief , and misery , it uses the old flightpath 111Sq markinge , and should be done is a week or two .... pics to follow , I promise!

There's not a lot of aviation hsitory in this neck of the woods, unless you like helicopters, (Super Pumas for offshore flights), but we do have the remains of RAF Banff, home of the strike wing just up the road, as well as the remains of RAF Peterhead home of Polish P-51Ds in 44-45 , and of course Leuchers/Lossimouth/Kinloss - althought what remains from these 3 remains to be seen!

We have just spent a week at Fort William and it rained every day. Look forward to seeing that Tornado F.3. Derek

Welcome Colin from another Colin also from Bonnie (sometimes sunny) Scotland!

Thats a real nice Hunter you built there ... I'm also a 1/32 Aircraft builder these days with some 1/12 Tamiya Motorcycles as a side dish, ordered up the new Tammy 1/32 Mustang and Revell HE-111 from Relish Models today, really looking fwd to these kits.

Apparently there will be an announcement on Tuesday at long last as to the future of our Scottish RAF bases ... I live beside RAF Lossiemouth so hope it survives (having already lost RAF Kinloss near here) but I can understand the Fife community want to see RAF Leuchars stay open too, sad state of affairs, especially seeing all those brand new Nimrods getting hacked up for scrap ... Kinloss was my late Dad's final posting before we settled down here.

I see you are from Aberdeen ... I lived there for a couple of years in the mid 80's with a girlfriend .. Torry ... lovely neighbourhood :)

God now they're ganging up on us sassenachs. Seriously though please bring on these jets Colin or should it be Colin we are being overloaded with all these ancient thingies with fans on the front called Heinkels and Mustangs. Let it be known that the only TRUE Mustang was built by Ford. Derek

I've got nit-pick with you here Derek: the Mustang with the fan on the front pre-dated the Ford Mustang by many years and the only decent Ford Mustang was actually made by Carroll Shelby. :poke:

M31- Torry , Ah well , I was born and brought up there , an intresting place to live ... :frantics:

The whole bases review has been , at the risk of being political , a shambles .. I do hope Lossie and Leuchers survive , there mighe be a logic to bringing the Tornados south , since Leuchers does have experence in supporting the F3 fleet, and with the QRA intrastructure there , it would seem a waste to scrap it all , however since when did logic have anything to do with decision making in Politics!

The Eurofighter got its first visit from Dr Varnish last night , (matt marnish can cover up a multitude of sins!), an the F3 seats were also varnished , so pics soon.. I promise

BTW i'just posted some other completed kist .. in this Thread -

I had forgotten the Shelby Mustang  but to nit-pick you the original Mustang had four legs and predated both the plane and the car.
